Tulsa King has returned, and the premiere episode effectively establishes the new rivalry and drama to come this season. We dive right back in after Dwight’s arrest, finding him in a holding cell. One of his cellmates is in hot water for losing millions in government energy contracts due to gambling. Dwight offers him calm advice as he faces a likely lengthy sentence. Another cellmate tries to assert his dominance, which Dwight quickly shuts down with a single punch. We're back, everyone!
At the bar, Tina has accepted her father’s situation. Grace is worried about the safety of the family after they took out the bikers in season one. Tyson reassures her that they disposed of the bodies in an abandoned mine (does every Taylor Sheridan show have a body dump location?) so they should be fine for now. Goodie announces he’ll take over as the leader of the disorganized “family” while Dwight is in jail and tasks everyone with scouting new business opportunities, which is not appreciated by everyone. However, it doesn't last long as Dwight is released after Tina pays his $3 million bail.
One of Dwight's first visits post-jail is to Stacy. He lets himself in and pours himself a glass of wine before she arrives home. She is scared, thinking he's there to kill her. He reassures her he's only there to look her in the eyes and have a conversation, and that they can't be together due to their lines of work constantly clashing. He tells her he doesn't blame her for turning him in, and that it was nice while it lasted. I'm sure this won't be the last they see of each other.
Dwight also heads to Margaret’s ranch for a visit, and she’s already clued in about his situation from the local news. Unfazed, she invites him to a fundraiser the next evening, suggesting he buy a table while agreeing to join him for a drink there. While at the event, Margaret introduces Dwight to Cal Thresher (Neal McDonough), a businessman who immediately feels uncomfortable around him. Thresher warns Dwight about sticking to his own lane, and lets him know he's not scared by Dwight's mob ways. Dwight leaves shortly afterward to avoid further confrontation.
With the marijuana shop getting a fancy new location and the casino now up and running, this season is introducing new friends and foes as Dwight builds his empire. Will it all be still standing by the end of season 2?
