Jodie Foster and Kali Reis lead the newest installment of True Detective. Previous investigators have included Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Mahershala Ali, Taylor Kitsch, Colin Farrell, and Rachel McAdams. This season is set in the icy depths of Alaska, where the sun never makes an appearance. Issa López takes on the roles of showrunner, writer, and director for all episodes, marking the first season without the original series creator Nic Pizzolatto at the helm. Pizzolatto, however, is on board as an executive producer, assuming a more passive creative role this time around.
This season is officially titled "Night Country."
When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.
